01The standard

This site is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is the standard most accessibility law and procurement in the United States points to, and it is the one we hold our own work to.

02What that means here

Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a visible focus ring on whatever you are on. The first thing you reach on any page is a link that skips straight past the navigation to the content.

Text and controls meet AA contrast in both the light and the dark theme. Pages reflow to a 320px wide screen, the equivalent of 400% zoom on a laptop, without scrolling sideways.

The contact form labels every field, marks which ones are optional, and when something is missing it says what and moves you to the field. Screen readers hear the same message.

Images that carry information have alt text describing what they show. The screenshots of client software on the work pages are described screen by screen. Decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.

The only motion that runs on its own is the background behind the page headings, and it only moves in answer to a mouse. If your device is set to reduce motion, it does not move at all, and hover effects change instantly instead of animating.

03How it is tested

Every page is checked with the axe automated test suite in both themes, at desktop and phone widths, and again by hand: keyboard only, at 320px, and with WCAG’s enlarged text spacing applied. Automated tools catch only part of what matters, which is why the hand checks exist.

04The sites we build

Sites we build for clients are built and tested to the same standard. Accessibility is part of the build, not an add-on quoted later.

05If something does not work

If any part of this site is hard to use for you, tell us what page you were on and what happened. We will reply within one business day and fix what we can find. If you need information from the site in another form, ask and we will send it.
